It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Richard Van Gemeren.
Richard was a longstanding member of the club being both treasurer and secretary for many years.
I have been a friend of Richard’s for over 30years he was very passionate about the river and the club. In his time at the club he did a lot of good work gaining funding and over the years was involved in a few compensation claims following pollution incidents or works which affected our stretches of the Rhymney. He also worked a lot with the Environment Agency, subsequently NRW, and arranging clean ups of the river banks and cutting down the vegetation to ensure clear paths.
He was a very knowledgeable man and he will be sorely missed.

Richard’s funeral will be held on the 25th of September
